It is not a needle.
It is not a syringe
It is a key
that fits my front door
but now that I have it
will I use it?
Am I ready
to leave my distanced redoubt?
Is my unmasked heart prepared
to trust those I meet?
I cannot say
but the key turns
the dust-dry tumblers
the bolt withdraws
the door creaks open
I squint at the sun
of a different year
smell the aromas
of an unmapped summer
hear the surf noise
of my lifeblood’s anticipation
and I step outside
The Key

I should add, we’re thinking of saying in that in hopes people will back away six feet or more 🙂

You could always shroud yourselves in muslin and wear ☣️ signs around your neck.

I love all this cautiousness…. In our travels we’ve seen all kinds of reactions to “shut down.” We’re currently in Montana, and today we’re in Kalispell (to get our second Pfizer shot… it’s a long story) where the governor lifted all restrictions and masks are few and far between. My husband and I wear ours. We’ve decided to tell people we just got the second injection of the microchip… so now the government knows exactly where we are all the time, and will know where they are too if they stand too close! 🙂

Congratulations…. Any sign of a bench or a small park, where children play ? Slowly but surely. ‘with a little help from my friends….’

We have suffice to children playing in our front garden, so I’m apt to go to a different kind of park. Or, more likely, a friend’s place.

Gasp. I have been outside, too, and it seemed OK. Hesitant, a few steps at a time. What’s out there?

I can’t say, yet, but I’m sure it’s going to be different.
