Over the Labor Day weekend, I talked with other bloggers about frequency of posts. I wondered what my subscribers might want by way of frequency and topics.
Well, the best way to find out is to ask. So I’m asking.
…and…
Thanks for the input.

Under “What do you want to see more of?” I can’t find the button to vote for cute pictures of kittens. In hats.

I’ll make a special note to that effect. I’ll file it under ‘N’.

I voted for three days a week. I’m typically afk on the weekends.
As for posting frequency and content, if the intent is to drive traffic I think you want to post basically every day on a single subject. (At least from what I’ve read.)
At our website we usually average 10 posts every 14 days, though it’s been higher lately. We also lack laser focus. Erratic posting on a multiple subjects isn’t the way to build a following, but we don’t care, so it’s fine.

I’m thinking of recalibrating the focus and frequency. Thanks for the feedback, AJ.

I did a Seattle sports-only blog for about a year with a couple of other guys. That blog is now defunct. When I started the new blog I wanted to be able to write about things other than sports, and I didn’t want to be responsible for cranking out all the daily content, so I invited other writers with similar interests, and I expanded the topic list to include Games and Food. Nothing “serious”. Just stuff that’s fun and interesting to us.
It’s now branched out to include the Earthbox posts (food), many beer reviews (also food), some gambling-related posts (sports). The Recommended Games category was originally intended as just board/card games, but it’s evolved to include whatever vids I think are fun that I want to share with everyone.
Everything still fits under the original umbrella, but the broad categories allow us to write about whatever happens holding our attention at that moment. It’s now been 3-1/2 years, but if I’d had to slog through 3-1/2 years of just Seattle sports I probably would have burned out a while ago. The internet is littered with the detritus of the blogs of people who were committed to vision…. for a while.
