You do not know how close we came.
There’s a reason we all like that old joke:
What do Seattleites call the first sunny day after two days of rain? Monday.
We like it because it’s true. If we’re going to have only two days of rain in a given week, they’re going to be on the weekend.
But last weekend was beautiful. Sunny, warm, a light breeze, and late enough in the season to have given us all time to acclimate to the summer temps, so we could spend the days out in the sun instead of melting in our shuttered homes.
The problem was, the weekend before that was just as gorgeous and—here’s what you don’t know—one of the sure signs of the coming Apocalypse, one of the guaranteed omens of the coming Trump to usher in the End of Days is three consecutive weekends of sunny weather in Seattle.
I am not kidding. I have this on good authority. Go, look it up yourself. Then report back.
So, we’ve had two weekends in a row of utterly sublime weather, but thankfully, blessedly, the forecast for this coming weekend is for renewed, world-saving precipitation on both Saturday and Sunday.
We are saved!

Amen. I’m a total heat wimp. Even though I lived in Jerusalem for years, after 25 years, I am now _completely_ acclimated to Seattle weather. –k

Ha! I visited Jerusalem during the spring and it was already getting a bit too warm for my tastes, and not nearly enough rain. 😉
